The 2026 season came to a close Thursday night at Versailles High School as the Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons finished as District Runner-Up after a hard-fought 3-0 loss to Carlisle in the OHSAA District Championship. Despite the final score, the Falcons battled throughout the evening behind another dominant performance in the circle from sophomore standout Ava Crombie. Crombie was electric, striking out 15 batters while allowing just four hits and three runs over six innings of work. She also walked five in the contest. Both teams showcased strong pitching performances in a tightly contested championship matchup. Carlisle pitchers combined for seven strikeouts while limiting Clinton-Massie offensively throughout the game. Carlisle broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning, capitalizing on patience at the plate and timely execution. The Lady Indians used two walks to spark the inning, with Ally Conger drawing a bases-loaded walk to bring home the game’s first run. Clinton-Massie collected four hits on the night, with Izzy Penewit, Kylie Chavez, Kalli Jodrey, and Abbie Baker each recording a hit for the Falcons. Carlisle’s Grace Holt earned the win after throwing a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits while striking out seven. Kennedy Ferguson led Carlisle offensively with two hits, while Holt and Conger each drove in a run. Carlisle also showed discipline at the plate, drawing five walks and turning a double play defensively. Although the season ended one game short of a district title, the Falcons put together an outstanding season filled with memorable performances, resilience, and growth throughout the tournament run. Congratulations to the Clinton-Massie softball team, coaches on an incredible 2026 season and District Runner-Up finish.
